EMORY RECREATIONAL SERVICES I.M. SOCCER
RULES
|
1. Length of Contest: Games will be played using running time in two 25-minute halves. The clock will only stop for an injury, protest of rules interpretation or after a goal during the last two minutes of the game. During the regular season, a tied game at the end of regulation will result in a tie. During the playoffs, a tie at the end of regulation will result in sudden death overtime of two 5 minute overtimes. If still tied, a 5 player shoot-out will be held. If still tied, a sudden death shoot-out will be held with the 6th and 7th players, repeating with player 1 until the contest is decided. 2. Players: 7 players are allowed on the field per team. A team must have at least 6 players to start a game. After the game starts, a team must have at least 5 players to continue. 3. Co-Rec League: The Co-Rec League rules are the same, except each team must have a minimum of 3 women and 3 men on the field at all times. Teams without 3 women or 3 men present at game time will forfeit the game. 4. Uniforms: Teams must wear the same color jersey, except for the goalie. Teams without the same colored shirt must wear a mesh pinnie provided by the Recreational Services Office. The team goalie must wear a jersey with a different color from his/her team, the opposing team, and the game's officials. 5. Game Time/Forfeits: GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME! The team captain should report to the Intramural Supervisor 15 minutes before the contest. If a team forfeits a game, the team will lose their forfeit fee. Another forfeit fee must be posted within three business days before the team may compete again. If a team forfeits a second time, the team will be dropped from the league. Please call the Recreational Services (727-6551) Office at least 48 hours before a contest to default a game to keep the team's forfeit fee and playoff eligibility. 7. Offsides: No three line kicks are allowed.
Any long kick or pass must be touched by a player, or hit the ground, 8. Substitutions: Subs may enter a game on a goal kick, their own corner kick, time out, their own team's throw-in, or for an injured player at the referees discretion. All players must receive permission from the referee before they entering the game. 9. Time-outs: Each team is allowed 1 One-minute timeout per game. Time-outs may be called only on dead balls when a team has an opportunity to make a substitution. 10. 18-yard box/line: A/Grad/Women's: The 18-yd box rules
are normal for these leagues. Goalkeepers can use their hands anywhere
inside the 18-yd box/line and must release the ball within 6 seconds.
Punts and drop-kicks are allowed. 11. Weather: Call the Rec. Services Weather Hotline at 727-6542 at 4:00p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on weekends for game play information. 12. No Slide Tackling: Emory Rec. Services does not allow slide tackles. A player may not slide tackle another player while he/she is in possession of the ball. A loose ball is a free ball. The first slide tackle call on a team will result in a direct kick (or a possible yellow or red card due to referee discretion). The second slide tackle call will result in a direct kick and a yellow card (or a possible red card due to referee discretion). The third slide tackle will be a player disqualification (but played at full strength, not as a man-down for that team). A missed slide tackle is also an infraction. 13. Drop Ball: An injury stoppage will result in a drop ball, except in the goal box. 14. Mercy Rule: If a team is winning by 5 points (10 for B League and 16 for Co-Rec League) with 5 minutes remaining, the game will be called. |
